Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assess, diagnose, and treat individuals with psychiatric and emotional disorders or the potential for such disorders using their full scope of therapeutic skills, including the prescription of medication and administration of psychotherapy. Evaluate and diagnose mental health problems and psychiatric disorders.
  • Perform risk assessments, construct, and interpret medical history, perform physical assessments, develop biopsychosocial and pharmacologic treatment plans, and perform delivery and outcome assessments.
  • Provide psychiatric and medical services and admit patients to LRC and refer to community resources, such as outpatient facilities, residential treatment facilities, home health programs, drug and alcohol treatment facilitates, counseling or group therapy and/or the Oregon State Hospital.
  • Refer patients to other health care providers, manage and coordinate care, use research skills and diagnose health/illness statuses.
  • Observe and intervene in instances of disruptive or assaultive behavior. 
  • Delegate care and orders, and monitor patients’ performance, progress, and outcomes. 
  • Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate medical and diagnostic procedures as required with the scope of practice to identify and assess patient’s problems and needs.
  • Prescribe, dispense, and administer psychotropic medications, including legend drugs and controlled substances, as provided in the Oregon Nurse Practice Act, consistent with the definition of the practitioner's specialty category and scope of practice. 

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Practitioner license and an Oregon Registered Nurse license issued by the Oregon State Board of Nursing.
  • Current Prescriptive Authority Certification within the Oregon APRN Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Scope of Practice.
  • Must maintain certifications and licenses through approved continuing education curriculums. 
  • Four years related experience and/or training.
  • Current driver's license.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • AVADE Certified within 90 days of hire.
